　　据了解，该活动由大猩猩慈善协会主办，该协会旨在保护中部非洲雨林的濒危物种。在当日的奔跑活动中，共计有750多人参与，这也创下了一次身穿大猩猩服装同时奔跑人数的世界纪录。

　　该协会主任米勒在接受采访时表示：“这项活动进行得一年比一年好，参与者和观众都非常捧场。我们希望这次能募集到20万英镑的善款。”

　　自然资源保护论者、电视明星(Star)(Star)比尔·奥迪为比赛鸣枪，并且为完成比赛的选手颁发了奖章。比尔表示：“看到这么多人为了一个共同目标聚集在一起，这是一件非常有意义的事情。”参加奔跑的一名获奖者，25岁的詹姆士·伯顿表示：“我经常参加跑步运动，不过这还是头一次身穿粗笨的大猩猩服装，真的太热了。”
